Leadville 100: Race Across the Sky

I just recently got into mountain biking...and I'm quite glad I did. Thanks first and foremost to the guys and gals up at the Duluth Trail Festival for getting the juices flowing.

A second showing of the Leadville 100" Race Across the Sky came to town and i wasn't about to miss it this time if I could make it happen I was going to. So, thanks to IZ for helping out with the kiddos for a few hours, and for buying the tix on line. Shout out to cousin John for tagging along and enjoying this flilck with me (thanks for the kick-ass posters too).

The panel interview prior to the movie was keen! Top five finishers of the 100 mile MTB race were be interviewed along withe the man who started this whole thing back in 1996! Can I just preface this with...Lance Armstrong is a god among men, there, I said it.

So the story goes, lance against Weins (6 time Leadville champ)and a whole array of stories from different people from all over the globe. Thsi race brings people together and brings a community together with it. i won't re-tell the story of the movie, but lets just note that Lance wins, wins big by 28 minutes, finishes the race on a flat and kills the course record by a long shot! More importantly, really, were the stories of encouragement, honor, strength, ambition and perseverance. If you have a chance to see the movie, do it!!

We finished off the night looking at old (I mean old) vintage bikes in Johns basement, cahtting about family, kids stuff and biking. It was good to spend time, to have laughs, to chill and be inspired in alot of ways.

Bish out!
