Friday was full of work all day (if you can call it that) and i had so much to look forward to that evening! From haircut to karate graduation, running to maple Grove to drop off my teen then over to Edina to have some din-din. That's just the beginning...!
Kyle graduated form blue belt to advanced blue belt...not bad! We went to his ceremony Friday night (was about an hour long or so). he's super excited to have moved up a notch...I don't blame him. So, good job my little man on your accomplishment.
Right before graduation I went and got a haircut. Steve the barber is very good at remembering what i have going on...whether it be my nagging injuries, kids stuff with sports and recreation, or anything else we have talked about in the previous haircutting sessions. Kind of like my therapy, accept Steve doesn't tell me that I'm all messed up...hahaha.
After Kyles dealio Hunter and I headed to maple Grove to meet with her Mom. we stopped quickly into marshalls and I got a new shirt for the show later in the evening...she helped me find the perfect one and was very cool about expressing how it looked on me. She's funny like that, and I appreciate it.
Now onto Edina where Izzie and I were going to meet with our friends Ty and Jess for a little din-din and some good convo. Worked out real nice. I had never actually stopped and had dinner at 50th and France before, so this was kind of a treat for me. I still don't entirely get what all the fuss is about, but I'm not complaining either. Edina Grille...simple as that. Good food, fair price in a anice area of town and a cafe/diner feel. I like it and it was good as well. So, we had some great conversation, some good laughs and a great deal of good food. I tried a wonderful new beer selection form Colorado called Lefthand 'Deepcover' brown ale! That's some goodness in a glass. VERY Nutty (say that with a Scottish accent). So thanks to Ty and Jess for the good times.
Now Izzie and I are off to lakeville to enjoy ROCKFIST! This is (or used to be) Izzie's favorite band for 80's cover music, so we were pumped to be heading south for an evening of fun and meeting a few people that I was really looking forward to seeing. On our way we met up with old pal Mikey V. and then caravaned to the bar. side note...Mikey V. cracks me up!
Pull into the lot and its pretty busy and you can hear the music playing...can you say PUMPED UP?! I can so say it with me, actually don't do that at all. We head in get carded (no cover) and look over at the band and Izzie's jaw drops!!! THIS is not the same band, this is Rockfist but minus one key player. The lead singer is different. this guy is lightly balding has white boy gerry curls and a beer belly, rockin the chain wallet (can't fault him for that really) and sings with his hands in his pocket...well one hand in his pocket cause the other hand is holding the mich. Geesh...not cool, not even a little. So, Izzie is naturally disappointed, but what can you do. We see Rocky and Brenda in the distance and head over. I introduce one gang to the other and we sit down to sip on some barley pops and reminisce about Duluth and the what nots. Good times in a totally hillbilly like atmosphere, we are in lakeville (which might be like Delaware but worse).
The night winds down, sleep is sounding pretty good about now and we have a long trek home. We decide, after a bit of dancing and singing along, that it is time to head home. Off we go, big day in the morning starting at 8 with Malias first basketball game.
Good things on a Friday night. I enjoyed it thoroughly and exclusively! Thanks to all, hope to do it again sometime...to Rockfist...sorry, you're not invited.
