Big Bicycle ride tuesday night for Chad and I! we got together at Broadway pizza in North Minneapolis and heasded towards Plymouth Ave. to start our ride of the minneapolis Duathlon bike course. We were so pumped!! Traffic was heavy, the weather was perfect and the sun was shining. So we headed out...on our way we were keeping our eyes out for my cousin John. he was gonna meet us at Broadway Pizza but we were running a tad bit early so we thought we would meet him on our way out. Problem #1: john didn't take the river parkway to get to broadway! Bringing us to problem #2: we never did see John on the parkway! : ( Thank God for cell phones, right!? John finally called back and we were slotted to meet up in south minneapolis, and we did. hit the lakes loop and headed up the Greenway back towards downtown minneapolis. on the way Chad and I got a bit backwrds with our directions and pulled over to ask a guy how to get to where we needed to go. I said to him, "hey, sorry to bother...how do we get to the Cedar lake Trail from here?" Much to my surprise he said (quite crankily) "You're on it!!" Wow...I thought, cool and awkward all at the same time. "follow this trail the the RR tracks, go left and you will come out downtown". "Right by the new stadium?" I said. "yeah, unfortunately" he grimaced back. he must not be a fan of the new baseball stadium, or the taxes that go with it. the cranky old guy asked where we were headed, cause it was getting dark...i told him we were off to the HOOD (which we were quite honestly). He looked at us kind of funnily and murmured "Not quite sure what that means, but good luck!" I laughed along with Chad and pedaled away...
Awesome ride...lotsa city cruising and fast paced lake riding...Chad had a ball and is now ready to race on Sunday! Thanks to john for being patient with us and catching up. good times in the HOOD for sure.
Ride safe, ride hard, just ride!
